Mother Ventures
When tech entrepreneur Allison Stern became a mother, she was hit with the confusion, overwhelm, exhaustion, frustration (and of course the all-consuming love) felt by every new parent. In all of the chaos, however, she saw opportunity. She decided she wanted to focus her next professional chapter on investing in companies making life better for other moms and families like hers.
Across the US, 85 million mothers control 85% of household purchases – a spending power of over $2.4 trillion. Allison founded Mother Ventures as the first venture capital fund to focus purely on the mother as a consumer. With the ambition to involve mothers as fund investors, founders, and partners, Mother Ventures also looks to tackle the gender disparity that is so pervasive across the start-up ecosystem.
We worked to define the Mother Ventures brand from its earliest days, establishing a bold founding purpose: together, moms can save the world. Mother Ventures is a true tribe of mothers seizing the opportunity to transform modern family life, and powering the next generation.
Our partner Design Hungry translated the strategic foundation into a striking visual identity, grounded in a vibrant purple tone that’s at once authoritative and dynamic. The MV icon is both simple and playful – look closely and you’ll notice it resembles a fox. (Fun fact: a female fox is called a vixen!)
As we translated the brand system into the Mother Ventures website, we incorporated warmth through lifestyle photography and started to build out the visual language for the brand through a fresh mint green accent color and distinctive V icons.
As Mother Ventures makes its mark through investments in companies like Bobbie, FamilyWell, Coral Care and Auggie, we can’t wait to see how the brand grows and evolves in the months and years to come.
